Warning Shot
Today’s post is different, I want to expose designers that have plagued the design industry as a whole. To expose those that piggy back ride on others hard work. To do all that, without naming names, without pointing fingers, without ruining careers. Maybe this will act as a wake up call for all those fuckers.
I guess today may as well go down in logo design history as the day everything was set to change. But first a disclaimer, I really don’t care much about what the logo design community has to say, but this is for those that are genuine, that still have morals and ethics, that still love what they do.
Disclaimer: This article is intended as a warning to many that I know read this blog, to those that dislike me for my brutal honesty and for the fact that I am a real logo designer, genuine, and passionate about what i do, while they’re just fakes, never-will-be’s. This article is not intended to offend those still in love with the industry, those who care about the industry and value it and appreciate it.
It’s disgusting you know? What’s happening in today’s design industry. Designers claiming to know it all, running around with a chip on their shoulder…What do they have to show for it? Honestly, probably a couple mortgages. But you know, I’m not going to base success on how much money they’re making, that wouldn’t be fair. After all, thanks to their none-existent marketing knowledge, business knowledge and for the most part none-existent common sense, it’s not hard to see why many of them would resort to cooking up work for pennies.
It doesn’t even surprise me that popular well known designers have now started to feel the pressure and slowly began to crack. High expectations mixed with envy drives these weak designers to that point, that little point where nothing makes sense and their judgment becomes clouded where there’s no sense of right and wrong.
No matter how smart you are, no matter where you get inspired from, how deep you dig to find it and think no one will find it, a rip, a plagiarized piece of work will always surface. You’ll be caught, remember that. It doesn’t matter who you are and how many you’ll have backing you that day, it doesn’t matter if you deny it or claim that due to your long years in the industry as one of the top designers that there’s no way YOU were inspired. It will not matter if you say you came up with the idea first or if it was a coincidence. There will not be an excuse strong enough, clever enough or legitimate enough to save you. People that forge someone elses signature in real life can end up in jail. Just because this is the internet and you’re ripping a couple graphics does not mean the law of conduct ceases to exist!
Here’s the thing, while many of you feel like reading this bit of drivel is a waste of time, I see it as a clear message, a statement. There are legitimate designers still in today’s industry, and we don’t like what we see. I’m personally gunning for you if you’re one of those rotten fucking apples, I have spare time in my day to find joy in tracking you guys down and exposing you. Even if this remains a one mans hobby, whether or not I find help, I’ll slowly but surely call you all out. That’s a promise, no matter who you are.
Why am I even bothering with all this? Because on some skewed level I feel like I owe the design community. I owe it to myself to be honest and true to the industry I work in, to not stand for the crap that goes on no matter what. If that means calling out fake designers, so be it. If it mean calling out poor design community webmasters, so be it. If that means calling out money hungry design services, that care less about a designers real worth, so be it.
LogoMotive (Mike E ) of logomotive.net seems to be inspired by a lot.

As for Mike, yes, he is a very good friend, someone I respect highly and that image means very little to me, because I know Mike. The day people trademark shapes, and animal figures is the day I call it quits you know?
I’ll even ask Mike to reply to your comment himself, as honestly, I don’t feel like I should even bother going into whether he was inspired or not, take one look at his gallery -
This man needs no inspiration, he himself is the definition of logo design inspiration.
I commend you on you’re willingness to hear everyone out. However as the ‘bad boy’ of Logo Design per thelogofactory.com’s description of you, clearly you can’t ignore the fact that a logo published long before LogoMotive’s work may in fact be a source for his inspiration.

Unbenouced to any public people you and I have exchanged many emails, one that i remember clearly where i begged yes begged you to stay on logopond because beyond the foul language i valued, yes valued your opinion and was proud to display your work, but you never respected me back, you continued to raise your head every time there was drama to be ad on the site, so much so that i thought i should make a general rule of thumb to just get in touch with me to save some of the issues that were going on, instead of embracing that, you call me out for talking sideways behind your back.
I really don’t give a shit about what you have to say about me as a poor community webmaster anymore because you have proven to me that beyond what you have said to me privately about respecting me that you truly never have, that’s fine i didn’t get into this for ass slaps and back claps. But your assertions that i dont give a damn about logopond or care about its community or are doing a horrible job running the site is just so far from the truth and so obviously wrong to anyone with a clue that i cant let you keep spreading these lies without some response.
You try running a site that you never thought would ever get 1k unique a month much less 180+k and try to make the site fun and usable for all then have to moderate and deal with ‘babies, hackers, thieves’ and all sorts of other personalities etc and manage your own business and a family, again GTFO (get the fuck out if you are not up on your lingo)
You disagree with how i run the site and come across to you and somehow that corresponds to me being a poor webmaster, why? cause im cool with wes from brandstack, why? cause i didn’t delete dache’s account? why cause i didn’t give you enough of a reach around while you were on the site?
Ive been in my opinion and many many others the most open webmaster/owner of a site that they have every known, i openly ask people for their opinions and will challenge them on their opinions and let them challenge me and even make changes tot he site based on that. but let me go on vacation for a bit or need a week to deal with my personal client and all of a sudden im a derelict webmaster and all kinda of other random shit.

I’ll keep this much shorter than your reply and put it as simple, as blunt and as direct as possible. While this particular post was not about you, as is obvious, I was aiming it at ‘designers’ not crap webmasters, like yourself. I do recall calling you an asshole on twitter and maybe on here a couple times in the past, if I may, id have added a wanker, childish pile of crap and poor excuse of a man to the list but I didn’t, because at the time, before I emailed you letting you know that regardless of anything, you blaming one of your members, publicly, for having caused indirect trouble which led to your poorly coded, shitty moderated excuse of a gallery being attacked/hacked/DDOS’d or whatever…i had an inkling of honest respect to you, as I do anyone in any industry doing whatever the fuck it is that they maybe doing to make an honest buck.
Mate, after you kindly asked me to find another site to use due to my heavily worded honest email directed at you regarding what i thought and how i felt about you disrespecting Jared in a comment, by implying he had something to do witht he attacks…I left. I could have pulled a nima, used the site on a proxy or whatever, gotten on and acted like a little girl but i respected your decision and I let it go.

He’s just a little annoyed i haven’t given him much attention after he kindly asked me to leave his site. That’s ok though, he misses me now but give him a few months, he’ll get over the fact that I’m no longer around
